The previous application for the Palm Court site which was registered with the council on 27/04/2010 ref: 03/10/00383 for the erection of 14 dwellings attracted 51 objections from mainly nearby residents and 0 in favour.
The latest application registered on 20/05/2011 ref: 05/11/00572 has so far attracted 32 objections from mainly nearby residents and 79 in favour mainly from people not resident in Allestree.
The Developer has certainly been campaigning for support employing a questionnaire in which the question was asked ‘Do You Feel This Site Should Be Developed’? There was not a reference to ‘do you support the proposed development’? The overwhelming response of ‘yes’ to the question asked has been manipulated to suggest it shows massive support for the over intensive development already refused and now back on the table with very limited alterations.
We would like to believe the Planning Committee would see through this deception but we cannot take anything for granted. The recording of 79 supporters mainly from none affected people, the majority not even resident in Allestree, should be ringing alarm bells. It has probably never happened before anywhere never mind in Derby. Something is clearly AMISS and it could result in an application succeeding which still contains elements which were evident in a previously refused application.
If you intended objecting to, or supporting, this application and particularly if you live in Allestree, and possibly near to the proposed development, it is important your voice is heard so please register your view with the council NOW!
